December 25
It's a Vitasa tradition to share Christmas with the less fortunate people. I had new games for the kids and gave out books as prizes. I hope I'm richer next year because I want each kid to bring home a book. Soon soon, one goal at a time.

Jumpshots, funny faces and pimp poses. Dinner was spent on playing Jam Legend on Jonah's laptop. :))

December 26
If 25 is for Vitasas, then 26 is for the Pitargues. I only get to see [info]ntravelbug once a year and that's during Christmas. Maaaaan, she's taller than me. She's 5'5" and she was wearing heels during our family lunch at MOA. I hate standing beside her. =)) Bimboy and his gang weren't there, because they were still in San Ferndando. We weren't complete. Werk werk werk.

December 27
/jologs flailing starts right now.

Different studio. Hellawaaaay colder. I was shaking while taking photos. =)) We had good seats because we were seated with the staff, meaning we had a lot of space to move and take photos. Manong guard thought I was one of the fans (weeeellll...) because I was holding my bullhorn. Taking photos were forbidden, but [info]blurredlights flashed his ID and said it was for the website. JACE RULES.

Second-to-be-eliminated Rye was at the studio too. I didn't care when he was booted out of the competition, but I developed a soft spot for him last night. Before the show went on air, he went near the fans and shook hands with them. He sat beside some of them, indulged the others for besos and waved to whoever called out his name. He was a sweetheart to everyone, from the camera man to the make up artist to the staff. He even sat beside Jace and engaged us in a light conversation.

He called me a paparazzi. Whutever Rye. :))

more shameful fangirling )

More photos in my Flickr and my Multiply.
/jologs flailing ends here.

Because I'm lazy to recall my Christmas dinners with both the Vitasa and the Pitargue families, I'll just look back on my 2009 experience by answering a survey. I nicked this off from [info]autumn_rime.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Take the bus by myself. Rode an ordinary bus. Took the bus to Pansol. YEAAH. It's the bus year. :))

she took the midnight train going anywhere. )

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Let's bee cheesy. =)) Sorry my mind can't think of a better song:

So here I am still holding on.
With every step you climb another mountain
With every breath it's harder to believe
You'll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricane
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
When you almost gave up on your dream
They'll take you by the hand and show you that you can
THERE ARE NO BOUUNDRAAAAYYYYYSSS!

Ahm proud of my new lappy wallpaper. Now those light trail photos did come in handy. I was trying to keep myself awake when we were stuck in traffic last night at the expressway. New light trail photos + newly posted Fed photos at the tennis comm = YAY NEW WALLPAPER!

Now, I need a new Fed icon.

I was highly amused that when we were in the middle of nowhere with no houses and just trees all around, I was still able to connect to Twitter. Twitter knows no boundaraaaaaays.

Me, Rich, Rica, Barbie, Kaye, Lovie
Sir Totet, Ma'am Amy, T. Portia, Tito Doc, Ms. Zarah

As a year-ender for our EDR 220 class, our teacher took us to Chocolate Kiss and had a dinner discussion with an award-winning children’s book writer, an award-winning illustrator and a story teller/librarian. Dr. Luis Gatmaitan or Tito Doc as kids know him, is my favorite children’s book writer. I’m a big fan — therefore eliciting fangirl moments — because he is able to capture medical problems and make them interesting for the children. During the discussion, I was inspired to start working on that pending story that has been stuck in my head for years. I was there not as a teacher/educator but as a writer.

I have no hope in illustrating, so I just gawked and stood amazed while Sir Totet (or Sir Ruben de Jesus) showed his process of illustrating a children’s book, from receiving the manuscript, to drawing doodles, to rendering the drawings, to coloring them, to publishing, etc etc. Creating a children’s book is never easy because children are both difficult and easy to please.

The dinner ended with Zarah Gagatiga telling a story about Joseph’s coat, using a sheet of paper which she tore as she told the story. Story tellers are performers and every inch of your body should act with the story one is telling. Even if she was seated, her facial expressions told the story. Her hand movements animated the story. Everyone was glued to her. It was fun.

I brought books for them to sign. I wanted to bring all of Tito Doc’s books, but I only brought 3. (Nahiya ang face ko. Tehehehehe.) Sir Totet was amused to see that I had the third edition of the book he illustrated (Ang Mahiyaing Manok/the Shy Rooster) because the book is on its 10th edition. Wooosh, I had a rare edition in mah possession! And yay for Zarah for remembering me. She did a workshop for Galileo months ago and the teachers loved her. :D

When asked about Tito Doc's secret, he simply said "Start writing." I've failed at the first step. I'm too cowardly to start writing my story because I don't know how to attack it. The idea and the concept are there, all I need is the execution. So help me God. :))
